Discover the 2024 activity report of the Institut Robert-Debré du Cerveau de l’Enfant

2024 was a founding year for the Institut Robert-Debré du Cerveau de l’Enfant. This very first report highlights the commitment of the teams, the scientific strategy and the highlights of this very first Institut Hospitalo UniversitaireIHU dedicated to understanding the development of the child's brain. You'll also discover the architectural design of the future building dedicated to children and research.

A year of structuring

"The year 2024 marks a key milestone in the realization of this ambitious project. The Institut Robert-Debré du Cerveau de l’Enfant is now fully underway, in scientific, operational and real estate terms." Adrien Taquet, Chairman of the Supervisory Board

Indeed, the Institute, supported by numerous institutional and private partners, places the child at the heart of its project, involving families and young people in the decision-making process. The past year has seen the structuring of a participative and inclusive governance structure, the launch of several innovative research projects, and the mobilization of nearly 400 researchers, clinicians and educators to offer children early care adapted to their specific needs.

Projects and achievements in 2024

The report highlights flagship projects such as Clépsy.fr, a platform dedicated to the mental health of children and adolescents, and participation in international studies on autism and cognitive development, in partnership with prestigious institutes such as King's College London and the Child Mind Institute. The Institute also stands out for its involvement in training, innovation and participatory research, supported by an ambitious sponsorship campaign and innovative financial operations.

The future building: a place of excellence for children

The design of the new building, scheduled to open in 2027, promises to bring together care units, research platforms, an auditorium and collaborative spaces for start-ups and associations. This architectural project, financed in collaboration with the State and private partners, aims to provide an innovative, sustainable and inclusive environment for children and families on their care journey.

Solid financial results

Last but not least, the report highlights the rigorous management of resources, and the efficient, transparent steering that has enabled us to attract the trust of patrons and institutions.

The Institut Robert-Debré is young, but developing rapidly and, above all, on solid foundations. We would like to thank the children, families, associations, researchers, clinicians, donors and corporate sponsors who have made these actions possible in 2024.

"The brain is complex. So is childhood. To move forward, we need to assemble the pieces of a thousand-dimensional puzzle - from genes to environment, from digital tools to a child's speech, from daily care to fundamental research. It's demanding. But that's what makes this project necessary." As Professor Ghislaine Dehaene, Director of the Institut Robert-Debré du Cerveau de l’Enfant, reminds us
