Groupe BPCE, France's second-largest banking group, has distinguished itself since its foundation by its commitment to society, particularly in the fields of health and education. Each year, the Group supports numerous projects with a strong social impact, thereby reinforcing its CSR commitments. As part of this approach, on September 17, 2024, BPCE launched a "Social Bond" with a sharing coupon, with the support of Natixis Corporate & Investment Banking, for the benefit of the Institut Robert-Debré du Cerveau de l’Enfant.

Through this issue, BPCE is raising 400 million euros to finance ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) projects in the healthcare sector, including support for the Institut Robert-Debré du Cerveau de l’Enfant.

Investors such as Abeille Assurances, BNP Paribas Cardif and CNP Assurances will donate 0.05% of the amounts issued to the Institute, generating 2 million euros in donations over ten years. BPCE and Natixis CIB are also contributing, bringing total donations to 2.79 million euros at maturity.

These funds will be used to finance projects such as equipment for the Institute's biobank, a research laboratory on children's cognition, and the "Jeunes Chercheurs et Chaires d'Excellence" attraction program. This support underlines the collective commitment of BPCE and its partners to supporting research and innovation for the health of the younger generation.

The Institut Robert-Debré du Cerveau de l’Enfant is benefiting from donations generated by an innovative financial scheme: the first Green Bond with a sharing coupon.

This bond is issued by the SNCF Group with the assistance of Natixis Corporate and Investment Banking (Natixis CIB), which structured the transaction with institutional investors.

The innovative nature of this SNCF Group green bond lies in the fact that it combines the SNCF Group's Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) objectives with a charitable financial return for investors. This operation aligns all stakeholders with the principle of sharing.

By the end of the 12-year period, the Institut Robert-Debré du Cerveau de l’Enfant , supported by the Fondation de l'AP-HP, will have received a total of 2.31 million euros in donations.

This green bond was placed with a limited number of investors, including Abeille Assurances, Caisse des Dépôts and CNP Assurances, investors recognized for their commitment to social and environmental protection and development.

This unprecedented financial mechanism proposed by the SNCF Group, a prestigious and committed partner, is a fantastic opportunity to support the Institute's actions over time by purchasing cutting-edge equipment for the benefit of children.

Through this public-private partnership, innovation is now shared by all. Donations made by the SNCF Group, Natixis CIB and investors are earmarked for the purchase of medical equipment for the Institut Robert-Debré du Cerveau de l’Enfant.

The Sisley-d'Ornano Foundation was created in 2007 by Hubert and Isabelle d'Ornano, founders and owners of the Sisley cosmetics brand.

The Foundation has been in existence for over ten years. Its aim is to support projects, large or small, that it believes can have a positive impact on society and its environment.

The Foundation's support has enabled the development of CléPsy.fr, a website created during the SARS-Cov-2 health crisis.

A partnership to better understand and prevent language disorders in premature newborns

The Institut Robert-Debré du Cerveau de l’Enfant (ICE) is delighted to announce a new partnership with the Septodont Foundation, a player committed since 2018 to solidarity, educational, cultural, environmental and healthcare initiatives for the benefit of vulnerable populations.

Created by Septodont, a French pharmaceutical laboratory founded in 1932 and world leader in dental anesthesia, the Septodont Foundation places social responsibility and philanthropy at the heart of its mission. By supporting research into the child's brain, it reinforces its commitment to more equitable health and harmonious development for all children.

A multi-year partnership for a major public health issue

This three-year partnership will enable the Septodont Foundation to support an ambitious research project led by ICE:
"Better detection and management of language disorders in premature newborns".

Every year, almost 55,000 babies are born prematurely in France. Their brains, still developing, are particularly vulnerable. These children are at increased risk of language disorders, which are often detected late, even though the first years of life are crucial for brain development.

A project at the crossroads of clinical practice and research

The project aims to identify early brain markers of language development in premature babies, in order to better understand and prevent the onset of disorders.
Two complementary lines of research are being carried out:

• a retrospective study using MRI images to identify anatomical markers of language development;
• a prospective study in neonatology, using electroencephalography (EEG) to explore the perception of speech sounds from the very first weeks of life.

Researchers will also be studying the impact of an innovative program, "Lire à mon bébé en néonatologie" (Reading to my baby in neonatology), which offers parents the opportunity to read to their hospitalized child in order to stimulate the cerebral networks involved in language at an early stage.

A scientific collaboration of excellence

The project is coordinated by Prof. Valérie Biran, head of the neonatal resuscitation and pediatrics department at Hôpital Robert-Debré (AP-HP, Inserm U1141, InDev team), and Jessica Dubois, an Inserm researcher specializing in infant neurodevelopment (NeuroDiderot, NeuroSpin).

Several teams at the Institut Robert-Debré du Cerveau de l’Enfant are also involved, notably those in Pediatric Radiology and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

Together for a better start in life

By supporting this project, the Septodont Foundation is making a decisive contribution to the brain health of premature infants.
The long-term objective is to enable earlier identification of children at risk of language disorders, and the implementation of targeted interventions from the very first months of life.

As France's leading crèche network with "Les Petits Chaperons Rouges", the Grandir Group has made a commitment to the Institut Robert-Debré du Cerveau de l’Enfant (ICE) via its Foundation. This partnership, signed with the AP-HP Foundation, which houses ICE's corporate philanthropy activities, is part of a three-year program. Its aim is to support research into the development of children during the first 1,000 days of life.

The aim of this platform is to support the development of every child, and provide families with day-to-day assistance.

This commitment marks a major milestone in the construction of the Institute's future building, which will open its doors in 2027 within the Robert Debré Hospital.

Sponsorship to develop a large-scale artistic project

The Institute aims to be a unique place, bringing together care, research, and innovation in the service of children's brain development. As part of this dynamic, the Institute wishes to integrate a structuring artistic project into the new building, intended to:

• Awaken, soothe, and stimulate children in care,
• Reducing hospital anxiety by transforming spaces,
• Promote cognitive and emotional development,
• Opening up access to culture for children who are often isolated from artistic offerings,
• Promote the hospital's heritage and establish the Institute within the tradition of arts in hospitals.

The support of the Pinault Collection will enable the financing of a comprehensive study to define the artistic specifications for the future building. This study will address, in particular:

• the creation of art trails,

Cultural activities tailored to children receiving care in the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Department

Beyond the study, the collaboration with the Bourse de Commerce — Pinault Collection includes a pilot program of cultural activities for autistic children treated at the Robert-Debré Hospital.

This cycle will take place during the 2025-2026 school year and will include:

• guided tours of the Bourse de Commerce
• tailored creative workshops
• a free-play environment that promotes children's independence.

Children will benefit from the experience of mediators from the Bourse de Commerce — Pinault Collection, accompanied by ICE childhood professionals.
A simple assessment will identify specific needs, necessary adaptations, and accessibility levers for young audiences with neurodevelopmental disorders.

The aim of this initiative is to broaden access to art and lay the foundations for long-term cooperation around cultural inclusion.
