Arthur Peugeot: an extraordinary crossing, an inspiring educational project

He did it! After 18 days of intense sailing, Arthur Peugeot crossed the finish line in Saint-François, Guadeloupe, on November 12, aboard his Mini 6.5 OMS Amipi. A luminous finish under the Caribbean sun marks the culmination of an extraordinary human adventure.

A journey marked by perseverance

Arthur set off from Les Sables-d'Olonne on September 22, but had to contend with the storm Gabrielle in mid-October, forcing a temporary halt. But with determination, he set sail again to pursue his dream.
Tough weather conditions, technical breakdowns, long single-handed days: nothing could dampen the sailor's resolve.

When he arrived, his emotion was palpable. He confided:

"This morning, the sun rose, and an hour later, I spotted Désirade, a small rock in the distance. I started crying all by myself, for joy. That was something."

A simple phrase that sums up the intensity of his adventure.

A project that goes beyond sporting performance

As well as being a marine exploit, this crossing has a unique human and educational dimension. Throughout Arthur's journey, children from the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Department at Hôpital Robert-Debré and from the Centre médico-psychologique des Tourelles followed his progress through a program specially designed around :

  • emotions,

  • mental health,

  • to surpass oneself

  • and the parallel between solo sailing and life's journey

This project gave the young people the opportunity to experience an inspiring collective adventure, discovering the rich links between extreme sporting experience and working on their own feelings.

A collective success

Our heartfelt congratulations go to Arthur Peugeot for his courage, tenacity and power of inspiration, which he passes on to all those who have followed him.

Our thanks also go to the teams of caregivers, educators and partners who helped make this initiative a unique human and educational adventure.
