Robert-Debré Hospital

4 architectural groups selected after the first stage of the architectural competition

At the end of the competition jury held on January 18, 2023, four groups of architects were selected for the project to build the Robert-Debré du Cerveau de l’enfant Institute, which will open its doors at the Robert-Debré AP-HP hospital (Paris 19th) in early 2027.

The AP-HP, which has been awarded the contract to design the new building, opened the architectural competition for the Institut Robert-Debré du cerveau de l’enfant in October 2022. Candidates had until December 05, 2022 to submit their applications.

Open to outside personalities, the jury includes, alongside AP-HP management, a representative of the medical staff, one of the project's medical-scientific sponsors, the regional delegate of INSERM, the dean of the Faculty of Health and the dean of the UFR of Medicine of the Université Paris Cité, a user representative, the mayor of the 19th arrondissement of Paris, as well as experienced engineers and architects.

Meeting on January 18, the jury selected the following four teams from among 35 candidate groups:

  • Emmanuelle Colboc et Associés
  • Michel Rémon & Associés
  • GPAA Architectures
  • AIA Architects

These four groups are now working on producing sketches, plans and models to be submitted by May 15, 2023. On this date, a complete analysis of the four anonymized dossiers will then be carried out by several multidisciplinary teams bringing together professionals and representatives of the children and families, according to the criteria defined in the consultation regulations:

  • Functional quality of the institute and adherence to the program
  • Urban, architectural and sustainable development qualities
  • Controlling construction deadlines and costs
  • Technical performance

These submissions will then be put to the vote of the jury, which will meet a second time in September 2023 to select the winner. In December 2023, a project management contract will be awarded to the consortium selected to carry out the construction.
